Denis Brown has created an exciting new series of works for our current show. Nine panels depicting the image of a Dandelion Seed Head are overlaid with layers of Calligraphy, in Denis’s own unique style.
“The idea of making a wish whilst blowing a dandelion seed or ‘wishie’ is embedded in folklore. The wish is released with a breath and allowed to float away as one or more seeds on the air. I collected hundreds of wishes and transcribed them onto glass, layering wish over wish to keep most of them secret. The wishes are implicit, even if illegible and are real expressions of people with a wide international demographic at this point in time. My hope has been that by encouraging people to make and release their wish to me, it may thus become more tangible for them. I am still collecting wishes for more works as I create my series of 1,000 Wishes”
